Location: Ilford, Redbridge

Term:  4 months initially

Hours: 2 full days, 14 hrs per week

Start date: 1st September 2019

This is a 4-month Internship position with Redbridge council. This internship is aimed at a graduate who is looking for the perfect opportunity to kick start their career or indeed gain more experience in the councils.

Please note that working for Redbridge will give the successful candidate a door to more opportunities within local governments.  

We will review CVs next week and the Telephone Screening Interviews are due to take place on the 22ndAugust/23rd August.

The Role

This internship would suit a graduate with knowledge of marketing techniques who is looking to gain experience working on a high-profile project in a local government setting.

Working with the Future Models Project team in a high-profile and time-pressured project the intern will be assisting in the establishment of a new commercial model for delivering services to schools.  This will involve:

  • undertaking research and analysis of data, relating both to existing services in our organisation and to potential external competitors;
  • Advising, designing and implementing an effective marketing strategy for future education service delivery
  • Research options, recommend solutions and implement digital presence for the new company
  • Ensure seamless transfer of ICT capabilities into Newco
  • Design marketing collateral (logo etc) for newco
  • Assist in organising launch event

Intended outcome of the internship

The graduate intern will have the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and will assist in the in the delivery of a number of elements of each project which include:

The Candidate

A degree in any area but must have a clear interest in marketing in particular


Skills and competencies for this position:

  • Must be able to demonstrate a clear passion and interest in digital marketing and project management
  • Must be confident and skilled at designing digital presence (website and social media)
  • The successful intern will have the opportunity work on high profile projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Good time management and organisation skills and the ability to drive the project forward within an agreed framework with minimum supervision

The role is based at Lynton House, Ilford High Road (Redbridge council offices) so please ensure travel to this location is possible.
