Job Description:

An exciting role has arisen for two six month Graduate Internships, working as a Project Coordinator in the Transformation Programme for Croydon Council. Interviews are due to take place on ASAP so interested candidates should apply without delay.

The Council

The Role

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to gain an insight into a career in a large and complex area of public sector delivery.

The council has been delivering a significant transformation programme over the last two years in response to the financial constraints local government is currently facing. We are entering into an exciting new phase of this programme, drawing upon the fields of demand management and behavioural insight, customer centric design and well as strong business intelligence to develop a demand led target operating model for the organisation which will be delivered over the next three years.

We are looking to recruit a professional, enthusiastic and hardworking Business Analyst to support this work.

The role is challenging across a wide range of delivery and so would suit someone with commitment, flexibility, ability to learn quickly, and with an abundance of talent. You will be working alongside a highly committed early intervention, health, voluntary Special Educational Needs and Disability and social care professionals who are passionate about the difference they can make to the lives of babies, children, young people and their families in Croydon.

The role will involve tasks such as:

  •    Developing and supporting a complex project programme using project management skills
  •    Tracking milestones and benefits in line with the ambitions of the overall programme
  •    Support the Programme Director in ensuring project milestones are met and actions are followed through and actioned efficiently
  •    Supporting the messaging and communication of the programme using demand management and behavior management techniques
  •    Presenting data in an easily digestible format which can be used to support managers and stakeholders with decisions (e.g. visual presentations)
  •    Researching evidence – both internal and internationally – and presenting findings
  •    Capturing ideas from stakeholders and testing against research evidence
  •    Supporting short term initiatives/projects as required to produce regular reports, insights and reviews
  •    Carrying out process and service reviews using techniques such as customer journey mapping, lean process review, six sigma or similar business process redesign (BPR)
  •    Presenting information and data in an engaging way to provoke inquiry and thought
  •    Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to present findings, recommendations and to deliver the actions agreed
  •    To support engagement events including presenting and undertaking small group work
  •    Communicating with stakeholders in relation to programme development


The Candidate

The candidate will need to be able to demonstrate a strong analytical, communication and BPR skills. Work experience in a business change project or programme environment or equivalent is desirable.

Key requirements:

  • Minimum 2.1 undergraduate degree in a discipline with an emphasis on analytical skills
  • Ideally experienced with a relevant business/analytical/project management degree
  • Experience in project management in studies or work
  • Time management and prioritisation skills are highly important along with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong BPR skills, ideally six sigma trained or similar
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • An ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
  •  Ability to work and deliver within a Project Structure
  •  An understanding of change management is desirable.


£400 per week
