Location: Canary Wharf – Head Office

Duration: 6 months

Salary: Competitive Basic Salary - £18000 per annum pro rata

Total Equity and Debt Capital Market activity within the Treasury Department of an Oil & Gas Major. The team is in charge of debt issuance of the group, following up the liquidity position and every operation linked to the group’s shares (increase of capital, share buyback, dividend policy, employee share plan…). The team also participates to the preparation of the General assembly of the company.

The Company

Total Gas & Power Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Total Group responsible for energy Marketing and Trading activities in the UK. We supply natural gas to many thousands of sites across the UK, and we are market leaders in the highly competitive I&C sector (by gas volume). Based in the head office in Canary Wharf (London) the Trading division is responsible for optimising the purchase/sales portfolios of gas, electricity, CO2 emissions, coal, and LNG, via transactions (arbitrage, balancing and hedging) in all recognised markets worldwide, in compliance with Group trading guidelines. Alongside the traders we have risk analysts, shipping and chartering operators and gas and power schedulers.

The Role

Within the Corporate finance department of Total SA, the successful intern will assist the team members in the monitoring of the debt and capital markets. Prepare a daily market report and perform ad-hoc analyses, studies and benchmarks for the Top Executive management and in preparation to the Annual Shareholders meeting of Total SA.

Stock-market: In coordination with the team:

Writing of a daily stock exchange report for top management: summary of brokers analyses on majors performance and policy, on shares, FX, bonds and Oil & Gas markets

Debt Market

Assist the Financing executives in:Update the relationship between banks and Total : writing of explanatory notes for CEO, CFO and treasurer (cash level, bank participation in group’s projects, M&A and trading activities)

Bonds issuance (weekly reporting on banks, recommendations regarding bonds issuance opportunities ; bond and credit markets monitoring ; Assist in preparing market transaction execution)

Peers benchmarking: financial analyses (P&L, balance sheet, market capitalization, financial ratios)

Annual shareholder meeting:

Assist the department team members to prepare reports, benchmarks and analyses for the Top Management in order to prepare the Annual Shareholder meeting and contribute to documentation prepared for the Finance Division Management.

This internship will help you have a better understanding of:

· Capital Markets, brokers’ notes, valuation analysis, investment cases, key ratios
· The Oil & Gas industry and investors’ expectations (dividend policy, liquidity ratios, production targets, FCF, credit ratings)

The Candidate

· Education Level: Scientific or economical background (Master level) with a finance specialty
· Skills: Rigorous / Flexible/Autonomous/ Team spirit
· Knowledge: good background in corporate and market finance.
· Languages: French Desirable 

This position requires autonomy, discipline, to be resourceful and well organised. Be proactive, and have good visual basic (VBA), analytical and Microsoft office IT skills. Good communication skills and service-oriented. Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
