Job Description:

An exciting and challenging 12 month internship position has arisen, working for a financial conferences organisation, Institutional Investor Memberships. This is a full time position, starting in June 2017.

This position is being recruited and managed by the Internships team University of London so all applications and enquiries must come through ourselves otherwise you will not be considered.

The Company

Institutional Investor Memberships, a business division within Institutional Investor magazine, has managed financial conferences for over 30 years. It delivers exclusive and highly interactive Roundtables and Forums for senior-level decision makers from both Asset Owners and Asset Managers globally. Their mission statement states ‘our forums are intimate, the seniority of our attendees is unparalleled, and we make every effort to ensure that networking is productive’.

Asset management firms are the primary paying client base, responsible for managing investment portfolios for institutional investors. They buy memberships to meet these senior investment decision makers from pension funds, endowments, foundations, family offices and registered investment advisory (RIA) firms as well as high-profile government officials and sovereign wealth funds.

The Role

The Intern will be supporting the work activities of the Investor Relations Teams in Europe and the Middle East on a wide range of tasks that help build and enhance investor relationships. In addition, the intern will also assume some PA duties for the Managing Director.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Updating and maintaining our CRM database to ensure correct details of investors are accurate and consistent.
  • Email campaigns and retentions to event attendees.
  • Research the market for new investor leads.
  • Responsible for collecting event information from delegates prior to meetings.
  • Arranging panel calls/diary management.
  • Booking speaker and delegate travel.
  • Ordering awards and materials.

Key Skills

We are looking for someone with great attention to detail, who is able to take direction and work independently once an assignment is given. We require someone who has great technical and computer skills, excellent communication skills, a nice telephone manner, is fluent in English, works well in a team environment, learns quickly on their feet, and has the ability to manage several projects simultaneously. We expect our interns to get involved where is needed and learn as much about the business as possible.

  • An interest in Finance/Economics would be a plus
  • Intermediate to advanced level - Microsoft Office suite (excel, word, PowerPoint)
  • Intermediate to advanced level – Outlook
  • Previous experience with database programs would be a plus - Salesforce


£341.25 per week and paid holidays.
