We are launching a new programme soon with some exciting partners, to help local government find new ways to fund parks and get communities involved. We’ll be awarding grants and helping them think through how to use people power and digital to work differently. . We can’t say too much more until they are announced publicly but the work will build  on our past work on Rethinking Parks directly as well as scoping an exciting new area of development! The next 6 months are going to be an exciting time as we design and launch the new programme, promote it to receive high quality applications, then assess applications and decide who to award funding to and work with over the next few years.

About the team

We’re a new project team. You’ll be one of 4 working on the programme day to day. Our team is situated within a wider group of colleagues working on Government Innovation right across Nesta. As such we support one another across different programmes, especially at peak times.

The focus of this role will be in is on working with the team to support the delivery of one of our major new partnership programmes. You’ll spend your time:

  • Undertaking rapid desk based research assignments to scope out the best ideas and new opportunities; keeping abreast of relevant news and events.
  • Supporting the organisation and delivery of excellent events. Our events range from 15-100 people and take a variety of formats including programme launches, programme selection panels and advisory boards, workshops and surgery sessions for applicants and more.
  • Reading and commenting on applications (Expressions of Interest) from people applying to funds, collating feedback from colleagues at Nesta and our partners on these applications.
  • Supporting our Programme Managers to refine full proposals with applicants including undertaking due diligence, and sharing ideas about how to improve proposals from our research and understanding of the field / sector. We do much of this in 1:1 surgery sessions, and you’ll be part of these external meetings.
  • Working with the team to ensure effective communications, including direct communications with innovators as we develop their proposal for work, as well as wider stakeholders through our external communications channels such as our website, blogs and social media.
