Role Title: Design&Production  Internship
Salary:  London Living Wage £9.75 per hour- £365.63 per week                                            
Duration: 6 months - Friday 6th October 2017 and end date Friday 6 April 2018
Hours: Full-time 37.5 per week
Location: Blackfriars, London

The Innovation Skills team supports Nesta’s mission to help people and organisations bring great ideas to life. We believe that everybody has the capacity to innovate, and our aim is help people become better innovators for the common good by encouraging the take up of design and innovation methods. We do this by providing:

  • Easy to understand content on what innovation is and how to do it
  • Inspiring learning experiences to give people the confidence to adopt new ways of working
  • Advice and support to organisations so that they can improve their ability to innovate.

As a team, we have a mix of skills including design, education, policy-making, international development, programme design and management and content creation. Organisations we have worked with include the OECD, UNDP, Rockefeller Foundation, USAID, British Council and DfID India.

We are looking for an intern with a design background to join our busy team and provide support across a range of projects and programmes. If you are an enthusiastic, visual thinker who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collegiate and fun environment, then we’d love to hear from you.

The Role:

  • Provide design support to the Innovation Skills team by working across a number of programmes to help develop visually engaging and informative content. This will include PowerPoint presentations, workshop material, online learning content and visualisations.
  • Contribute to the writing, editing and proofreading of materials for publication, especially for use by learners and practitioners.
  • Provide support with website management (This will include wordpress, picture editing) and social media ( Twitter & Facebook)
  • Support Senior Programme Managers and Learning Services Managers with the day to day logistics and help ensure that team systems and processes are followed and improved as we go.
  • Work with the team to help capture, record and share insights and evidence coming out of programmes.

The Person :

  • Educated to degree level with a background in Graphic or Communication Design, or alternatively in Innovation Management or Service Design with strong visualisation skills
  • Natural visual thinker; the ability to capture crude ideas and translate them into compelling visuals; experience with prototyping methods
  •  Excellent knowledge  of  Adobe Creative Cloud and PowerPoint
  • Experience of managing online content through a variety of website CMS platforms such as Wordpress 
  • Strong eye for detail, with great copywriting and meticulous proofreading  skills 
  • A hands-on mentality, and a love for making things that work! 
  • A can do person with strong problem solving skills with a flexible approach to managing tasks and activities
  • An interest in innovation, especially in the creative, public and social  sectors
  • An understanding  of different cultural dimensions and how to design for them
  •  An interest  or experience in the following areas would be highly advantageous:                                Using innovation methods and tools, Teaching and learning, delivering workshops and training,Video editing skills or digital media production 
  • Excellent written  and  verbal  communication  skills 
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, ability and experience to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Eligible to work in the UK
